Before your Spray Tan
Exfoliate the entire body prior to your spray tan. Exfoliating the skin removes dead skin cells and surface oils. This ensures a smoother application of the spray tan solution, allowing it to adhere evenly to the skin. We recommend using a good scrub and an exfoliating mitt for best results. Pay extra attention to rough areas, such as: knees, elbows, ankles, tops of the feet and knuckles. Also, be sure to remove any prior spray tan residue left on the skin.
Shave, wax and exfoliate 24 hours before your appointment. This allows the amino acids to re-develop, which are needed for the solution to adhere to. This time also allows the pores to close, resulting in a smooth application.
Manicures, pedicures and facials should be done 1-2 days before your spray tan appointment.
Do not use any lotions, oils, shaving cream or gels the day of your appointment.
If you need to shower the day of your appointment, we recommend taking it at least 3 hours prior to the spray tan. Using cool water and no soap.
Do not wear makeup, cream, perfume or deodorant to your appointment.
Wear loose dark clothing for after your appointment. Withhold from wearing anything tight after, that can rub against the tan and remove the color.
Post Tan Maintenance
Wait 8-12 hours before showering after your tan has been applied. The tan will develop during this period of time.
Avoid sweating or getting the tan wet during the development period.
If you will be sleeping during the development period, wear long loose clothing to sleep to avoid the bronzer transferring to your sheets.
Do not apply makeup, cream, perfume or deodorant during the development period.
Avoid touching the tan with your palms, while developing. If you find that you have touched your tan, use a wet cloth with soap to wipe the palms and fingers. Avoid wetting the rest of the hand.
During your first shower after the development, do not use soap. Rinse the entire body and face thoroughly with lukewarm water. Do not use any abrasive washcloths or loofas. Instead, guide the bronzer off with your hands, until the water runs clear. Pat the skin dry with a towel.
Do not wax or exfoliate after your tan has been applied. Light shaving may be done, if needed.
Keep the skin hydrated by moisturizing daily and drinking plenty of water. This will improve the length of the tan.
Avoid using saunas, excessive sweating, pools, and going into the ocean for the duration of your tan. These can all cause premature fading to the tan.
